So I've just done a fresh install of WIndows 7 Pro on my PC, which is now going to be a dedicated HTPC.
I've got XBMC installed as the front-end and I'm very happy with it. Other than installing that, I installed no codecs. I'm just wondering if XBMC's codecs are self-contained, or if they get installed on the PC - I'm assuming they don't, as currently I can't play an MKV in Windows Media Player, only in XBMC itself.
I also want to use TVersity on my HTPC to stream content, mainly to my PS3 but perhaps to my iPhone too (so PS3MediaServer isn't an option). My question then, is can I follow this guide successfully without harming my XBMC install?
