TVersity Codec Pack Setup Error - "Resolving hostname&q

Postby Hoffe » Sun Nov 11, 2007 1:03 pm

Hi,

As you might have seen in my thread in the 360 forums I've had some serious problems getting TVersity to play anything else than wmv's, so I finally decided to wipe the entire computer to get rid of any weird codecs that might have caused this.

But, now after formating, when reinstalling TVersity I get an error when installing the TVersity Codec Pack:

---------------------------
TVersity Codec Pack 1.1 Setup
---------------------------
Download failed: resolving hostname
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

I suppose that it's just the download server being down (temporarily?), but can anyone please tell me what codecs to install? I really, really, really, really don't want to be in the mess with a million downloaded codecs I was in before reformating.

Thanks!

The recommended codecs are on this page
http://tversity.com/download/

They're under
"Transcoding of some file formats require the installation of third party directshow filters that are compatible with TVersity. TVersity recommends"

<soaking wet>

Pardon my french, but it bloody works! :D Just installed FFDShow and nothing else, default settings all around. I won't touch a thing now...

I'm gonna make a little victory dance then I'm gonna continue editing movies. Thanks!

Hi,

I just installed the codec pack.

Can I uninstall all the other codecs that where needed before?

Apologies if this has already been asked.

If you don't mind, a yes or no answer would be appreciated.

Cheers guys, and remember to donate! 8)

In general, install just the codecs you need
FFDShow covers a lot of formats - though you'd need to turn them on in the settings

If something doesn't play back, then find out what you need and get the best codec for it

Unistalling any unneeded codecs won't hurt, all you have to do is reinstall any needed ones if you have problems
That said, if it works now, leave it alone

I installed the Codec Pack, I also installed the 3 suggested ones. Someone else mentioned installing CCCP before TVersity to get some settings and/or more codecs? Anybody tried that? All I get is either ffdshow OR DirecDraw (MP4v3 and WM 7 8 and 9)....
