I am assuming this means the communication is fine but something in the transcoding is timing out or something. I have all the codecs installed but have one issue, what do i do with the FLVSplitter.axx file? I've tried placing it in many different locations to no avail. Sorry if this has been answered already.
See download page on our web site for instruction how to install it. Please be advised that you do have to install it only if you intend to play FLV files (Flash video). I know some people in this thread suggested that it must be installed, however I can assure you that this is not the case.

If there is any other possible reasons for this type of error, please let me know.
Depending on the speed of your machine it may take too long before the server starts providing data and the Xbox may give up. In such a case always try hitting play again. If it still does not work it means transcoding is failing. Try re-installing Windows Media Player, then reboot and try again.

Hi ronenmiz, First thanks for such a nice answers.

About the AC3 It doesnt work for me, as I said I have all the needed codecs but it doesnt transcode in 5.1 but 2.0, anyway I can wait for new versions to come out, after all in this first release is working already very good.

For the Divx part, it did actually worked better (not perfect) after installing WMP11.

Very cool machine! Can you do us the favor of telling us what is the top resolution you can get TVersity to transcode an HD video to, in real-time? I understand that 1280x720H.264 to 1280x720 WMV is a stretch but it is getting really close? or am I mistaken? Can you also try 1280x720 Divx to 1280x720 WMV?

I dont Know if I understood you, but I set the max resolution in the transcoding setting to 1280x720 and my x264 files is 1280x544 and the transcode worked Flawlesly, almost perfect, I paused the file for a couple of minutes and watched almost all the lord of the rings movie without a problem and the resolution was awesome.

I tested a Divx but the biggest one I had 960x544 and it worked good too but had some stop issues as the computer didnt transcode fast enough.

After testing your program I got curious about all this transcode on the fly process and installed Windows MC just to test Vlc360 just for curiosity, I am not critizing your program just telling my founds.

Vlc360 seems to transcode better the Divx and Xvid movies, faster and with more quality than Tversity, It was quite obvious with the Batman Begins movie I was testing, I understand is the first beta version, so I am sure the quality can be improved, if you guys are able to optimize a little bit more the quality and speed of the transcode it will be very very good.

Of course VLC360 didnt handle the x264 files while your program did.

For the sound I get sound from the AC3 movies without problem, what i mean is that the sound is transcode to Stereo, it would be nice to transcode it WMA 5.1 that is what the Xbox360 seems to handle for 5.1 sound.

Well let me know if you need me to test anything else, I will be more than glad to keep helping your group to make this possible, I believe that any 3.0Ghz dual core can Handle HD content without problem, I believe the only problem is a little more tweaking here and there.

One more time, THANKS A LOT!!!

I'm definitely going to give this program a try, and am very intrigued to see how it compares but I don't know about that limitation you speak of.. I currently use Transcode 360 to stream divx/xvid (which has its faults), but I am definitely able to FF and rewind during the transcode.
If you can FF/Rew a video while it is being transcoded then we must have missed something. We were under the impression that ASF takes its index at the end and until this index is created no seeking is possible. We will further look into this and see if there is a way around it. Please note that the way the 360 behaves in MCE and when it connects to a computer is very different. In the MCE case I believe it can handle MMS and RTSP Internet streams and when it connects to a computer I know it cannot since we tested it (of-course with TVersity it can since we make the stream available over HTTP).

I'm curious if anyone else has had success with rewinding or fast forwarding videos that are being transcoded. If so, is it working for ALL videos you transcode? If not, which have you had success/failures with? Great app btw, thanks!

Fixed mine gentleman and women.

If you're having issues, go here:

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/FFDShow.htm

Install the 1st thing in the download list, go through the install, then restart the TVersity media server. It is showing up incredibly on my 360. YES!

Ok, I got everything working just fine on my other computer ... now, I installed in on a new faster one and -- no xvid ... I'm getting the content unsupported message. I've take all the steps of uninstalling and reinstalling everything.

How do I capture a log so you can see what's happening? I haven't been able to figure that out from the messages posted here ...

Thanks!

Is there any way to narrow down where the failure is happening? I'm a technical guy, so throw all you want at me, in terms of jargon.
The question is where the crash is occuring. When you get the Windows crash message please click the more info link and check the module in which the crash occures. If it is qasf.dll just reinstall Windows Media Player and the problem should be solved.

P.S. Tversity admins, I am serious about testing and helping move this project along. I bought a second XBox360 core Wednesday just to stream media in my bedroom along with my family room. I have been doing 3D graphics, video compression, building my own workstation class PCs, and networks for 14 years.
This is very much appreciated. It will be great if you test HD divx and H.264 and see what is the highest resolution that your machine can handle for real-time transcoding to WMV HD.
Here are some links to Divx HD movie trailers (720p I think):

http://trailers.divx.com/Fox/ThankYouForSmoking_HD.zip

More videos seem to be available at:

H.264 HD is at:

Still doing the same thing for some reason, it's only doing like 5.16KB of a PART file then just stops. I have reinstalled WMP11, reinstalled all the codecs listed previously, and music and WMV video stream wonderfully, it's just this DIVX encoding.
When you render a divx video via graphedt.exe what filters are used? Can you tweak the system so that ffdshow is used? Does it solve the problem?

We are ware of that. As far as I know both transcode 360 and vlx 360 transcode to mpeg2. They can do it since when using the Xbox via MCE the Xbox accepts MPEG2. However when connecting via a UPnP server (like TVersity), the Xbox accepts only WMV. Needless to say transcoding to WMV is much more compute intensive than to MPEG2 hence the difference you see.

There is no delete button on the "library" feeds! How do I remove all these feeds? It takes too long to scroll through all the feeds to find my media.

Select hit and press the DEL key.

I must be missing something really simple. When removing the feeds what tab should I be looking at Sharing ?

After transcoding is done, you need to play some other video and then go back to the original one. Now FF and Reiwnd will work.

The announcement forum has a step by step description for logging. I am not sure youy need to. Simply reinstall Windows Media Player and ffdshow and it should work for you.

I'm sorry ... I must have missed it. I'll go look again. However, I've uninstalled and reinstalled ffdshow and WMP at least 3 or 4 times, rebooting each time, and oddly enough, it won't work. Like I said, on the other computer, it worked like a charm. I'll go play around some more and post if there is anything odd. Thanks!

Ok, this is kind of odd ... everything in that folder except the xvid stuff played fine, but I shortned the folder name -- and the xvid stuff started to play, but without sound. I'm trying to get the sound running now ... but I thought I would mention this oddity.
