Windows 7 64bit + ffdshow x64 + TVersity 1.7.2.1 = no subs

Postby Ignis » Sat Dec 12, 2009 12:54 pm

Ok here goes,
did a clean install of windows 7 for various reasons so now to get TVersity playing .srt subtitles on normal avi files again.

Disabled Windows Media Connect Network Sharing service
Installed ffdshow x64
used Win7DSFilterTweaker to make the ffdshow filters the active ones
Installed TVersity without the codec pack

Now is i stream an avi to my PS3 it will not show subtitles, if i play it on windows media player it will not show subtitles.
HOWEVER if i load the file in graphedit and play it there it will show the ffdshow filters + play subtitles same thing in the classic windows media player.

Any ideas?

EDIT:
If i install directvobsub i get 2 sets of subtitles in wmp and mpc but still none when using tversity

http://www.videohelp.com/tools/AVIAddXSubs

I gave up searching for a way when i came across this little tool.

It adds your subtitles to your avi file but it doesnt hardcode them. How do you get them to show on your ps3? When streaming (doesnt work when transcoding) just go into the options, subtitles menu from your PS3.

To get it to work just make sure your srt file has the same name as the original avi file, it will output a .divx file wich you can just rename to .avi and stream to your ps3, only takes about 20seconds on my pc so...

So, how is outputting a new divx file not hardcoding them? Does the PS3 play embedded soft subtitles in divx files?...

The PS3 does support soft subtitles in AVIs. AVIAddXsubs will add them without re-encoding the video, and you add multiple subtitles that the PS3 can switch between. The only issue is that AVIAddXsubs can't intelligently position them, so you have to manually position them through trial and error.
