Tutorial: Stream TVUPlayer, Sopcast

Postby MetZ on Wed Jan 30, 2008 6:10 pm

Follow these steps to have your PS3 stream TV with Tversity.

TVUPlayer:

1) Install TVUPlayer

2) Install VLC media player

3) Open TVUPlayer and select the channel you want to stream.

4) Right click on your "VLC mediaplayer" shortcut on the desktop, chose "properties".

5) Target: C:\Programfiles\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe http://your.local.ip.adress:8901 --sout "#duplicate{dst=std{access=mmsh,mux=asfh,dst=:1234}}"

6) Go to Tversity and add the video url: mms://127.0.0.1:1234

Now you should be able to stream TVUPlayer chosen channel ;)

SopCast:

1) Install SopCast

2) Install VLC media player

3) Open SopCast and select the channel you want to stream.

4) Right click on your "VLC mediaplayer" shortcut on the desktop, chose "properties".

5) Target: C:\Programfiles\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe http://your.local.ip.adress:8902 --sout "#duplicate{dst=std{access=mmsh,mux=asfh,dst=:1234}}"

6) Go to Tversity and add the video url: mms://127.0.0.1:1234

Now you should be able to stream SopCast chosen channel ;)

You could probably use more TV player programs, but I have only tested these two... Enjoy!!! :D

NOTE:
Remember to START TVUplayer or SOPcast with the DESIRED channel viewable in program (you are looking at the channel in program), BEFORE starting the VLC shortcut you created.
If you do not have any VLC shortcut on you desktop, browse: START => MY COMPUTER => C: => PROGRAM FILES => VIDEOLAN => VLC, right-click the VLC.EXE file and SEND TO => DESKTOP
When editing the shortcut on desktop, ONLY ADD the connection info AFTER vlc.exe in TARGET: example: TARGET=C:\Program files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe - ADD AFTER vlc.exe so it says : C:\Program files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe http://your.local.ip.adress:8902 --sout "#duplicate{dst=std{access=mmsh,mux=asfh,dst=:1234}}"
Rename you shortcut to (right-click and rename) Sopcast VLC
Now click the Sopcast VLC shortcut on desktop, VLC opens, you should now be able to stream to Tversity (try to view stream in Tversity)

If encountering any trouble you fixed, please let us know in this thread..

Also, If you figure out how to make the image smaller on the TV, let me know.. Kinda corny on some channels when viewing on a 42" ;)

This is great info, thanks. I am having a problem though. I am getting a directory error because of program files. I have tried every variation and still cannot get it to work. Do you have any ideas?

Hi..

Sounds like you have used the whole c:/programfiles......... path I provided..

This will change on what language your windows is on...

Only use the part after vlx.exe http://your.local.ip.adress:8901 --sout "#duplicate{dst=std{access=mmsh,mux=asfh,dst=:1234}}"

When editing the shortcut for VLC..

excellent instructions cheers people. Got both sopcast and tvu working fantastically. However, I tried the same process with UUSee, which streams through local port 90, and am having corrupted data issues when showing through my PS3.

Is there something I can do with VLAN to make sure that it is receiving the right data to stream? Because normally all you get is a blank box right? Or is there some way to convert the stream through VLAN so I can get a compatible stream to my PS3?

Thanks

Bosh

tombo, what steps have you taken so far? this works fine for me with sopcast and tvu, using my own IP address in the VLC link. The other option is to open the link directly from vlc... more detail please

I frequent www.myp2p.eu - on the forums there, somebody has an english skin for it apparently, although I've only ever used their links to start Uusee so had no need to play around in the chinese black hole that is the application. PS3 still thinks the data stream is corrupted though, no matter what I do - think it must just be the streaming format, although tbh I've no idea what i'd do to change that

English Installer: http://download.uusee.com/UUSee_Setup_2007_en.exe

English Skin: http://www.megaupload.com/de/?d=9M8JX3ZH

I will try Usee when I get home tonight.. Try to figure out what is wrong with the data stream....

copied and pasted no 5 and put my ip address in place of http:/your.local.ip.adress:8901.
heres what i put:
C:\Programfiles\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe 86.151.165.3 --sout "#duplicate{dst=std{access=mmsh,mux=asfh,dst=:1234}}"
it gives me this error:
The name 'C:\Programfiles\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe ' specified in the target box is not valid.

"C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" http://192.168.0.100:8902 --sout "#duplicate{dst=std{access=mmsh,mux=asfh,dst=:1234}}"

my link.

tombo: 1. check the shortcut is valid. As is, have you installed VLAN and is it in the location specified?

2. Second, you've missed http:// and the port number for whatever tool you're using.

Try to use 127.0.0.1 as you local ip adress.... or localhost:8902
Looks like you have a bridge connection and get a ip from isp to you LAN card..
