Seems the N95 is only a control point - allows you to render your media on a suitable renderer available on your n/w. The N95 picks up tversity and can browse the available media, once a media object is selected the N95 checks the network for a suitable device to render it, once this device is selected the file plays.

p.s. any one got any idea why nokia did this????

Maybe the nokia devices have not enough power to render the media?

And they offer a solution to show the media, recorded (music/photo) by the nokia devices, on the big screen via an upnp renderer.

it should be possible for tversity to stream to the n95, at least as realmedia.
so how about that, guys?

the usage as remote control is already excellent with tversity.

n95 update

Postby coley on Tue Dec 18, 2007 9:34 am

I've just noticed with the latest firmware update to the N95 v20.0.015 there is an option to play on device!! I quickly tried it and can get music files to stream - I'll look further into it and see what types it plays.

did a quick test on a video file - but am assuming it being DivX the n95 didn't like it, again will try h264 which it should support.

anyone else tried anything like this?

Anyone had any luck in getting the N series phones to transcode to a friendly format ? ? Not too worried about the lack of streaming playback with video, but we should be able to get TVersity to transcode videos allowing us to at least copy the video files onto the phone, I have an N81 and an N96 which both play mp4 and I've been trying to fiddle with the profiles (using the generic mobile phones definition) but don't seem to be having much luck as yet.
