Another user with .mov issues

Postby fleabag on Thu Aug 16, 2007 12:33 pm

Using Xp sp2... My goal is to stream .mov (quicktime) to my xbox 360. I cannot at the moment get it to work as the 360 states it's an unknown format. I have searched the forums and have not been able to reach a solution. I thought I would try to get TVersity to play the file before I again trying to get the 360 to play it. I have Qtalternative installed, as well as mp4 splitter, ffdshow. Tversity will play everything except quicktime movies. QTalt will play quicktime separately. I then removed nero as suggested in the forum. Doing that allowed Tversity to play the .mov but without audio. So thats where I am at. Next step is to get tversity to play audio then attempt to get the 360 to play. I suspect its something to do with ffdshow but there are far too many options is all these applications for me to figure out. I also tried to have tversity always transcode, no effect. Thanks for you help.

IT WORKS!!! I finally found a .MOV DirectShow transcoder that works!

It's an application from a company called MediaLooks. I got lucky, I guess, just browsing the web. I tried many things, incluging QuickTime Alternative, but nothing worked. Until now.

Now I can play any .MOV file on my PS3 being transcoded through TVersity from my PC. I don't normally post, but I felt obligated to do so since I know so many people are lookinf for this solution. ENJOY!

Was there anything special you had to do to get this working? I've been trying to get .mov files to play on my ps3 for a long time with no success... each time I get "Data Corrupted" when attempting to play a .mov. I have the K-lite codec pack installed, as well as the newest stable version of Tversity. I have no issues playing .wmv, .mts (avchd format from my sony sr12), etc, but still, even with the installation of Quicktime 7.6 and this filter no go.

I've tried restarting the ps3 and the tversity service, however not the entire machien hosting the software/files.

Any info on if you did anything else to make this work for you would be greatly appreciated. Perhaps the codec packs you have installed, etc.

Thanks in advance!

I feel your pain. This was the hardest file type to get Tversity to transcode for me. See my post above. Go to this site and install the MediaLooks transcoder. Just do it on top of what you've already installed. http://www.medialooks.com/products/dire ... ilter.html

I even rebuily my PC two months ago and followed my same steps. It worked for me.

(Note: You'll get a Media Looks logo in the corner of your screen during payback, but that's only during an "eval" period. If you can live with it, do. I have and it's no longer bothersome. If you cannot, then you'll have to call Media Looks and see what you can work out with them. That's because this transcoder is more of a development tool, not a consuer one.)

Thanks for the quick reply! That's what I had done... When I stumbled upon this post, I thought I'd found the holy grail because FINALLY somebody was able to figure out what to do... but I've installed it from the link and still no go.

I have quicktime installed on my media server, but got the same results either way. The only thing I haven't tried is rebooting because I'm in the middle of a backup of my 1TB of data :).

So you didn't have to change anything in Tversity settings or configure any of the codecs specifically?

Thanks again for any info.

Nothing special. Let's see... I installed 1) TVersity, 2) The default Kodec pack it comes with, 3) QuickTime, then 4) The Media Looks decoder.

I promise it works. Ugh. I feel your pain.

Bah. Still no go, same steps, except I'm using a non-default codec pack to support the avchd files from my HD camcorder. Are you running windows XP? I'm running Windows Server 2003, which could also be the issue, but typically as not, since XP and 2k3 are built off of a very similar kernel. Things that work in XP usually work in 2k3.

*sigh* oh well. I guess I'll keep trying :(

Thanks for the help though, I'm close. At least I have hope now, knowing at least somebody else out there has successfully done this.

I'm on Vista. Not sure if that's the same kernel or not.

Keep trying. If you find a better solution at some point, one without the Media Looks branding, then please post your results here. I apprecaite it!
